Location and School Site

Claytons is the only primary school in the beautiful Thameside village of Bourne End and occupies an extensive site at Well End.
The buildings have been adapted and improved to provide every facility for children in the age range 3+ to 11+. Surrounding the buildings are extensive and delightful grounds and good playing areas for the children to enjoy all year round.

Our school is divided into the Nursery, Reception and Years 1-6

This is our nursery - we like to keep lots of our art work on the walls and have different themes each term.

The nursery has its own entrance and play area
Children move into the reception class the term before their 5th birthday. About 95% of the reception class enter from our own nursery. Children enter the reception class in 1 term cohorts in September.
Key Stage 1 comprises children in years 1 and 2, and they are combined and divided into 3 classes (red, blue and yellow). These classes also have their own activity space and outside play area.
Key Stage 2 comprises children in years 3 - 6. Year 3&4 are also grouped togethera well as years 5&6. We have 3 classes within each group. This system means that children are both the younger set and the older set within each group as they pass up the school.
Each Class has its own classroom, and each child has his or her own desk space.
We have whiteboards and classroom computers in each teaching area and most members of teaching staff are equipped with their own laptop computers.
We have many areas in the school that are dedicated for specific activities. Special Needs section, Arts and Crafts areas, Library, Cookery Room, sports field.....
Our computer suite holds 30 networked student computers with dedicated server, printers and projector to enable children to work independently and watch teacher demonstrations as a whole class. There are also whiteboard facilities in the computer suite, and air conditioning keeps the environment cool and fresh.

We have a large playground with both hard and grassed areas, and plenty of shade from trees and shrubs as well as roofed shelters. Within the school quadrangle there is more space for activities and lunchtime chats as well as a pond area useful for science activites.
Staff and children take care of the school buildings and facilities and spend lots of time decorating it with their work.
